animated genetics support
common questions. if yours isn't here, email us with your device model, its iOS or Android version, and the app version shown in Settings.
- is it free?
- Chapter I, The Heel Prick, is free, including its specimens and their recall. the Complete Edition is a one-time purchase that opens the later chapters as they are released, with every update to them. there is no subscription and there are no ads.
- i bought the Complete Edition on a new phone and the chapters are sealed.
- open Settings → Restore purchases, or tap a sealed chapter and choose Restore purchases. make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account you bought with.
- does a purchase on iPhone carry over to Android, or the other way round?
- no. Apple and Google each keep their own purchases, and the app has no account to link them.
- can my family use it?
- yes, on the App Store, with Family Sharing. Google Play has no equivalent for this purchase.
- do i need to be online?
- no. the app works offline. you need a connection to buy or restore, and once, after you unlock the Complete Edition, to download the narration for the later chapters.
- where is my progress stored?
- on your device only. there is no account or cloud copy, so progress doesn't move between devices, and deleting the app deletes it.
- what does "share anonymous usage" send?
- anonymous notes about how the story is played, such as which chapter step was reached, sent only to our own server. nothing identifies you. you can turn it off in Settings at any time; the privacy policy lists exactly what is sent.
- the motion is too much for me.
- the app follows your device's Reduce Motion setting (iPhone: Settings → Accessibility → Motion). sound and haptics can be turned off in the app's Settings.
- is this a DNA test, or medical advice?
- neither. it's a story that explains how genes, DNA and inheritance work, with sources. it never asks for your genetic data and doesn't diagnose or test anything. if you have a question about your own or your family's health, please ask a doctor or a genetic counsellor.
- i think a science claim is wrong.
- please tell us, with the chapter and the card. every claim has its source on the back of its card, and we correct errors in updates.
